My Journey Into Massage Therapy

I came into massage therapy under interesting circumstances. At the time, I was deeply struggling with my mental health and feeling out of place in the world. I didn’t want the typical nine-to-five lifestyle—I’ve never believed we were meant to live that way. I’ve always felt that life is meant to be lived fully, and that we deserve to enjoy every hour we spend in this lifetime.

Massage wasn’t something I consciously chose. It felt more like it chose me—like I stumbled upon it at just the right moment. During one of the most difficult periods of my adult life, everything around me seemed to fall apart. I had lost my footing and desperately needed to reground. I was heading in a direction I wasn’t proud of, and I had a powerful realization: no one was going to change my life for me. It had to be me.

In what felt like a manic but determined decision, I went back to school. I didn’t stop to think about the time, the energy, or the consequences. I just knew I couldn’t remain stuck. I walked into Intellitec College and signed up for massage therapy—ironically, despite never having been comfortable with people touching me, or with touching others.

But as I began learning and practicing, something shifted. I found that I was truly dedicated to the craft. I felt deeply connected to the clients I worked with and to the massage therapy community as a whole. I came to realize that massage isn’t just a luxury or a feel-good indulgence. It’s a powerful, multidimensional experience—mental, physical, spiritual, and even divine.

As human beings, we need outlets. We need ways to reground, reconnect, and find peace amidst the chaos. Life isn’t meant to be an endless battle or an uphill climb. Even if it’s just for 30 minutes or an hour, we deserve those moments to pause, breathe, and come back to ourselves—to remember that our efforts matter, and that self-care is not a luxury but a necessity.

I love doing massage because it allows me to share moments of peace—not only do I “Zen out” with you, but I also help you find your own Zen. My goal is to help replenish the mind and body, to restore a tranquility that many of us have forgotten and need to relearn.

Massage, to me, is not just about sending someone back into the world pain-free—it’s about everything that happens in between. It’s connection. It’s healing. It’s renewal. That’s why I’m so committed to becoming a trusted presence in my community. When people hear “massage,” I want them to think of Lemon & Lavender—and remember how they felt safe, seen, and truly cared for.

My Signature Massage

My massage style is deeply intuitive, rooted in long, flowing, and unhurried movements that invite the body and mind into a state of deep relaxation. I often close my eyes as I work—not out of detachment, but to tune in more clearly to the energy and rhythm of your body. I breathe deeply and intentionally every few minutes, grounding myself and creating space for both of us to remain present.

I believe massage is more than a physical practice—it's an energetic one. I’m very conscious of energy transfer during sessions. My intention is never to pass my energy onto you, or to absorb yours. Instead, I create a clear boundary, holding space that is grounded, safe, and sacred. Massage, to me, is a form of giving—a way to offer relief, sanctuary, and peace without any energetic entanglement.

Over time, I’ve experienced moments during sessions that feel deeply intuitive, even medium-like—moments of insight or presence that I can’t always explain, but always honor. These experiences have inspired me to explore other healing modalities, including Craniosacral Therapy and Reiki. I’m committed to deepening my understanding of subtle energy work, so I can continue to offer more meaningful, restorative experiences to those who come to me for healing.

 FAQs

  • Massage therapy offers a wide range of benefits for both the body and mind. Whether used for relaxation or targeted treatment, massage can play a key role in overall wellness. Some of the most common benefits include:

    • Pain relief: Massage is highly effective for managing chronic pain conditions such as back pain, migraines, and muscle tension.

    • Stress reduction: By promoting deep relaxation, massage helps lower stress hormones and reduce anxiety levels.

    • Improved circulation: Enhanced blood flow supports faster healing, reduces muscle stiffness, and improves overall tissue health.

    • Boosted immune system: Regular massage can stimulate lymphatic drainage, helping the body to eliminate toxins and support immune health.

  • Yes! Massage therapy is widely recognized as an effective complementary treatment for chronic pain and injury recovery. It can help reduce inflammation, relieve muscle tightness, improve circulation, and promote overall healing. Many people turn to massage therapy to manage pain and improve quality of life when dealing with conditions such as:

    • Chronic back pain

    • Arthritis

    • Muscle strains and sprains

    • Tension headaches and migraines

    • Fibromyalgia

Whether used alone or alongside other treatments, massage therapy offers a natural, holistic approach to pain relief and wellness.

  • The ideal frequency of massage therapy depends on your individual health goals, lifestyle, and physical needs:

    • For relaxation and stress relief: A session once a month—or as needed—can help maintain emotional balance and general well-being.

    • For chronic pain or muscle tension: Weekly or biweekly massages are often most effective, particularly when addressing ongoing discomfort or recovery from injury.

    • For athletes or active individuals: Regular massages (such as once a week) can support performance, promote flexibility, and help prevent injuries.

Ultimately, the right schedule is personal. It's best to listen to your body and work with your therapist to find a routine that supports your goals and fits your life.

  • A little preparation can help you get the most out of your massage experience. Here are a few easy tips:

    • Arrive Early: Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes before your appointment. This gives you time to complete any necessary forms and settle in so you can start your session feeling relaxed.

    • Communicate Openly: Let your massage therapist know what you're hoping to achieve—whether it’s stress relief, pain reduction, or improved mobility. Be sure to mention any areas of discomfort, tension, or past injuries.

    • Wear Comfortable Clothing: Depending on the type of massage, you may be asked to undress to your comfort level. Wearing loose, easy-to-remove clothing can help make this process smoother.

  • Contrary to popular belief, those crunchy “knots” you feel around your shoulder blades aren’t actually tangled muscle fibers. They’re known as trigger points—hypersensitive nodules within the muscle that can cause it to contract and feel tight, even when you're not actively using it.

While it would be great to "fix" them in one or two sessions, the truth is that lasting relief takes time. Regular massage, along with consistent stretching, exercise, and improved posture, can significantly reduce discomfort and improve how your body feels and functions.

Patience and consistency are key to long-term relief.

  • Speak Up—We’re Listening!
We may be intuitive, but we’re not mind-readers. Your comfort is our priority, so don’t hesitate to let us know if:

    • You’d like more or less pressure

    • You’re feeling too warm or too cold

    • You need a break or a moment to use the restroom

Open communication helps us create the best possible experience for you—so speak up, and we’ll adjust accordingly!

  • No Pressure—Your Comfort Comes First
All of our therapists are trained to respect your boundaries. You’ll only be asked to undress to the level that feels comfortable for you. If you prefer to keep your underwear on, that’s absolutely fine.

Your therapist will step out of the room while you undress and will provide towels or blankets to ensure you’re fully covered throughout the session.

Prefer to stay fully clothed? No problem—some massage techniques work well with clothing on. Just let us know your preferences when booking, and we’ll guide you through the best options.
